Stripe makes the reader. Donatefy makes it a giving device.

Clear roles, so you always know who stands behind what.

Made by Stripe

The S700 and S710 are smart readers made by Stripe, and Stripe processes every payment. Gifts settle into your organization's own Stripe account.

Provisioned by Donatefy

Each reader arrives with the Donatefy giving app and your campaigns loaded, ready to take gifts. The reader runs only the giving app.

Supported by Donatefy

Readers bought from Donatefy include Donatefy's one-year warranty and remote help from the Donatefy team.

S700 or S710? One difference.

Same screen, same battery, same tap, chip, and swipe. The S710 adds 4G LTE, so it keeps taking gifts when Wi-Fi drops.

Donor experience

Hand it over, tap, done

A staff member or volunteer opens the Donatefy app on the reader, picks the campaign, and hands the device to the donor. The donor confirms the amount, taps a card or phone, and chooses a receipt. The gift is in your ledger before the conversation ends.

  • Your campaigns and Quick Donation amounts on the reader
  • One-time and recurring gifts
  • Tap, chip, or swipe, with PIN entry built in
  • Automatic confirmation and branded receipt

S700 and S710 handheld reader questions

How much does a handheld donation reader cost?
A Stripe Reader S700 or S710 provisioned by Donatefy is $349, a one-time purchase that arrives loaded with the Donatefy app and your campaigns. If you prefer to buy the reader directly from Stripe at the price Stripe lists, activation on Donatefy is $49. See hardware pricing.
What is the difference between the S700 and S710?
Only cellular. Both readers have the same 5.5-inch touchscreen, battery, and tap, chip, and swipe payments, and both run Donatefy with the same campaigns, recurring giving, and receipts. The S710 adds 4G LTE: with cellular switched on, it moves to cellular whenever Wi-Fi is unavailable, so it keeps taking gifts at outdoor drives and off-site events. S710 cellular is billed by Stripe, separately from Donatefy, for each month it is on.
Who makes the S700 and S710?
Stripe makes both readers, and Stripe processes every payment, which settles into your organization's own Stripe account. Donatefy provisions each reader with the Donatefy giving app and your campaigns. Readers bought from Donatefy carry Donatefy's one-year warranty and support from the Donatefy team.
How long does the battery last?
Stripe estimates up to about 15 hours of active use and about 140 hours on standby, with about 2.5 hours to charge over USB-C or the optional dock. The S700 and S710 have the same battery.
How is this different from the Mobile App?
The S700 and S710 are dedicated readers with card and contactless payment built in, made for busy nights when volunteers pass one device from donor to donor. The Mobile App turns phones your team already carries into giving points with Tap to Pay on iPhone and Tap to Pay on Android. Many organizations run both on the same campaigns.
Can donors start recurring gifts on a handheld?
Yes. The same one-time and recurring options you configure per campaign are available on the device, and donors manage their plans later in the Donor Portal.
How many handheld readers can we run at one event?
As many as your device allowance covers, which handhelds share with your kiosks: 1 device on Starter, up to 5 on Growth, and unlimited on Enterprise, with extra device slots on the pricing page. Each reader reports separately, so you can see totals per device and per campaign in the Admin Portal afterward.

Plan your next event with giving in hand.

We will size the device count to your event and set up the campaigns with you.
