Stripe integration

## Every gift processed by Stripe, settled in your own account.

Donatefy runs your campaigns, devices, and receipts. Stripe processes every payment, online and in person, and pays out to your bank on your schedule.

### Gifts settle in your Stripe account, not ours.

Each organization runs on its own Stripe account. Gifts from every channel settle there directly and pay out to your bank on your payout schedule. Donatefy never holds, pools, or remits donor money.

Illustration: Donations from kiosks, handhelds, the Mobile App, and the giving site settle directly into your organization's own Stripe account, then show up in your ledger and at your bank.

### Donatefy is the giving software. Stripe moves the money.

Two companies with clear jobs. Your organization holds the Stripe account, so your payment history and your donors' recurring plans stay with you.

#### What Donatefy does

- Runs your campaigns, giving pages, and the Donor Portal
- Puts the giving app on kiosks, handheld readers, and phones
- Records every gift in one ledger, with channel, device, and fee detail
- Sends branded receipts and syncs to your accounting and CRM
- Provisions, warrants, and supports the readers it sells

#### What Stripe does

- Processes every card, wallet, and bank payment
- Takes card details in its own payment forms and readers
- Verifies your organization under the Stripe terms
- Pays out from your Stripe account to your bank
- Makes the Stripe Reader S700/S710 and sets the processing rates

### One Stripe account behind every channel.

Online or in person, each payment runs through Stripe and lands in the same account and the same ledger.

#### [Online giving](https://www.donatefy.org/online-fundraising)

Your giving site, forms, and QR codes take cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, and ACH bank transfer through Stripe payment forms.

#### [FS-22 and WM-22 kiosks](https://www.donatefy.org/hardware)

The integrated card reader runs on Stripe Terminal, so a tap at the kiosk is handled like any other Stripe payment.

#### [Stripe Reader S700 and S710](https://www.donatefy.org/handheld-s700)

Smart readers made by Stripe, with the Donatefy giving app on board for tables, events, and outreach.

#### [Mobile App](https://www.donatefy.org/mobile-app)

Tap to Pay on iPhone and Tap to Pay on Android turn the phones your team carries into giving points.

Stripe hardware

### Stripe Reader S700 or S710? One difference.

Both are smart readers made by Stripe. Donatefy provisions each one with your campaigns, so it arrives ready to take gifts. The S710 adds 4G LTE, so it keeps taking gifts when Wi-Fi drops.

![Stripe Reader S700 shown front and back: the Donatefy campaign list on screen, and the Stripe mark on the back of the reader](https://www.donatefy.org/assets/v2/hardware/dev-handheld-1200.webp)

S700

#### Stripe Reader S700

- Dual-band Wi-Fi
- Ethernet with the optional hub
- No cellular

For venues with Wi-Fi you can count on.

S710

#### Stripe Reader S710

- Dual-band Wi-Fi
- Ethernet with the optional hub
- 4G LTE backup

For outdoor drives and halls with patchy Wi-Fi. Cellular stays off until you turn it on, and Stripe bills it, separately from Donatefy, for each month it is on.

Identical on both

- **5.5 in** HD touchscreen
- **About 15 hr** of active use
- **Tap** cards and phone wallets
- **Insert** chip cards
- **Swipe** magstripe cards
- **PIN** entry on screen
- **USB-C** or dock charging
- **About 11 oz** in the hand

Specs as published by Stripe. Battery life is a Stripe estimate and depends on use. The readers are not water-resistant.

Readers sold by Donatefy are $349 provisioned and include Donatefy's one-year warranty and support. See [hardware pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing#hardware) or the [Stripe Reader S700/S710](https://www.donatefy.org/handheld-s700) page.

### Processing rates, as Stripe publishes them.

Stripe sets these rates and charges them in your own Stripe account. The Donatefy platform fee is separate, set by your plan, and the same on every channel.

#### Online card payments

2.9% + 30¢

$3.20 on a $100 gift

Domestic cards. International cards add 1.5%, and currency conversion adds 1%.

#### In person

2.7% + 5¢

$2.75 on a $100 gift

Kiosks and handheld readers. Tap to Pay on iPhone and Tap to Pay on Android add 10¢ per authorization.

#### ACH bank transfer

0.8% capped at $5

$0.80 on a $100 gift

Online gifts paid straight from a bank account, on every plan.

Standard US rates as published by Stripe on [stripe.com/pricing](https://stripe.com/pricing), checked October 2026. Stripe may change them, and your Stripe account shows the rates that apply to you. See [Donatefy pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing) for the platform fee on each plan.

For eligible nonprofits

#### Ask Stripe for nonprofit pricing.

Discounted processing

Stripe states that it “offers discounted processing fees for eligible nonprofit organizations that primarily accept donations.” Stripe does not publish the discounted rate; it sets your rate when it approves your request.

##### Check that you qualify

1. Your organization is a registered nonprofit with tax documents, such as an IRS 501(c)(3) letter, and at least 80% of your Stripe volume is tax-deductible donations. Memberships, tuition, tickets, registrations, and auction payments do not count.

##### Sign in to your Stripe account

2. The request comes from your organization's own Stripe account, so you make it directly with Stripe.

##### Contact Stripe support

3. Use the subject “Non Profit pricing” and include your account ID, registered email, a statement confirming your donation volume, tax registration details, and tax-exempt documentation. [Read the Stripe nonprofit discount article](https://support.stripe.com/questions/fee-discount-for-nonprofit-organizations).

Stripe decides eligibility and the rate, and does not say whether the discount applies to in-person or ACH payments.

Fee coverage

### Donors can cover the fee. Most of them do.

At checkout, donors see the processing cost and can choose to add it to their gift. Every fee a donor covers is a fee your mission does not absorb, and you decide whether the option appears.

72%
of donors on Donatefy choose to cover the processing fee

Source: Donatefy platform data. Fee coverage is always optional and shown to the donor before they give.

- The donor's choice, never a surcharge
- The amount is on screen before they pay
- Recorded on each gift in your ledger

Illustration: a sample checkout for a 100 dollar gift to a Spring Appeal, where the donor has chosen to add 3 dollars and 30 cents to cover the processing fee, for a total of 103 dollars and 30 cents.

Sample checkout. Amounts are examples and depend on the gift and payment method.

### Card details stay with Stripe.

What happens between the tap and the receipt, in plain English.

#### Card details go to Stripe

Stripe payment forms and readers take the card details, so full card numbers never reach Donatefy servers.

#### Confirmed, then recorded

A gift is marked complete only after Stripe confirms the payment, so a closed browser tab never leaves a half-finished record.

#### The reader runs the giving app

Readers from Donatefy run only the Donatefy giving app, and the payment step itself runs in Stripe software on the reader.

#### Refunds on the same rails

Your team issues full or partial refunds from the donation record, and the money returns through Stripe the way it came.

### Stripe and payment questions

Still deciding? Email [info@donatefy.org](mailto:info@donatefy.org) or call [(847) 786-0848](tel:+18477860848).

**Do we need our own Stripe account?**

Yes. Donations settle directly into your organization's own Stripe account and pay out to your bank on your payout schedule, so the account, the payout history, and your donors' recurring plans stay yours. Stripe verifies your organization and applies its own terms, as it does for any business.

**What does Stripe charge to process a donation?**

For US accounts, Stripe publishes 2.9% + 30¢ for online card payments, 2.7% + 5¢ in person, and 0.8% capped at $5 for ACH bank transfers. Stripe sets these rates and may change them, so check [stripe.com/pricing](https://stripe.com/pricing) and your own Stripe account.

**Is the Donatefy platform fee part of the Stripe fee?**

No. The Donatefy platform fee is separate, set by your plan, and the same on every channel. Both appear as line items, so your finance team can match every payout to every gift. See [pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing).

**How do we get nonprofit pricing from Stripe?**

Sign in to your organization's Stripe account and contact Stripe support with the subject “Non Profit pricing”. Stripe asks for your account ID, registered email, a statement confirming your donation volume, tax registration details such as your EIN or IRS 501(c)(3) letter, and tax-exempt documentation, and requires that at least 80% of your Stripe volume is tax-deductible donations. Stripe decides eligibility and the rate.

**Can donors cover the processing fee?**

Yes. At checkout, donors can choose to add the fee to their gift, and you decide whether the option appears. On Donatefy, 72% of donors choose to cover it, according to Donatefy platform data. It is always optional and shown before the donor gives.

**Is fee coverage tax-deductible for the donor?**

Ask your tax advisor how to describe it. Donatefy records on each gift whether the donor chose to cover fees, and you control the receipt language your donors see.

**What is the difference between the Stripe Reader S700 and S710?**

Only connectivity. Both have the same 5.5 inch touchscreen, the same battery, and the same tap, chip, swipe, and PIN payments. The S710 adds 4G LTE, so it switches to cellular when Wi-Fi drops. Cellular stays off until you turn it on.

**Who provides the warranty and support for readers from Donatefy?**

Donatefy does. Readers sold by Donatefy arrive provisioned with your campaigns and include Donatefy's one-year warranty and support. Stripe makes the readers and processes the payments.

**Is Donatefy part of Stripe?**

No. Donatefy is independent fundraising software made by Americloud Tek Solutions LLC. We build on Stripe and use it to process every payment, and Stripe is not a party to your agreement with Donatefy.
