### About Donatefy

What the platform is, who it is for, and how to judge fundraising software for online and in-person giving.

Details: [how Donatefy works](https://www.donatefy.org/product). [Back to all topics](https://www.donatefy.org/faqs#topics)

**What is Donatefy?**

Donatefy is fundraising software for nonprofits, faith-based organizations, schools, and community groups. It brings online giving, donation kiosks, Stripe Reader S700/S710 handhelds, and the Mobile App into one platform: you create a campaign once, collect everywhere, and manage every gift from one Admin Portal. Donations settle directly into your organization's own Stripe account. See [how Donatefy works](https://www.donatefy.org/product).

**Can one platform handle online and in-person donations?**

Yes, and that is the point of Donatefy. The same campaign runs on your giving site, campaign pages, QR codes, and embeds online, and on kiosks, handhelds, and the Mobile App in person. Every gift lands in one ledger with one donor record and an automatic receipt, tagged with its channel and device. See [online fundraising](https://www.donatefy.org/online-fundraising) and [in-person fundraising](https://www.donatefy.org/in-person-fundraising).

**What is an omnichannel fundraising platform?**

Software that runs the same campaign everywhere people give, online and in person, and records every gift in one ledger with one donor record. Donatefy works this way: one campaign runs on your giving site, campaign pages, QR codes, kiosks, handhelds, and the Mobile App.

**Who is Donatefy for?**

Organizations that raise money in more than one place: places of worship, [museums and attractions](https://www.donatefy.org/solutions-museums-attractions), [food banks and human-services nonprofits](https://www.donatefy.org/solutions-human-services), and [charities, schools, and community organizations](https://www.donatefy.org/solutions-nonprofits). If you only collect online today, the Free plan covers that, and kiosks, handhelds, and the Mobile App join the same ledger when in-person giving matters.

**Does Donatefy work for places of worship?**

Yes. The foyer kiosk, separate campaigns for funds such as zakat or the building fund, QR codes on screen during appeals, and receipts with your tax language work the same for every congregation. For a church, see [church giving kiosks](https://www.donatefy.org/solutions-faith-based). For a mosque, see [mosque donation kiosks](https://www.donatefy.org/solutions-mosques).

**How do we choose the best fundraising software for our organization?**

Start with where your donors actually give. If gifts arrive online and in person, look for one platform that runs the same campaigns on every channel, records every gift in one ledger with one donor record, sends tax-ready receipts automatically, settles funds into an account you control, and publishes its pricing. Donatefy is built around those tests. See [how to choose fundraising software](https://www.donatefy.org/compare#what-to-look-for), with the full checklist and the questions to ask any vendor.

**What makes Donatefy different?**

Online and in-person giving on one ledger, with money that settles to your own account and hardware you own. See [why organizations switch](https://www.donatefy.org/compare).

**Who is behind Donatefy?**

Donatefy is built by Americloud Tek Solutions LLC in Schaumburg, Illinois. Organizations have raised $5M+ in donations with Donatefy, with 150+ organizations onboarded, 10K+ donors, and 200+ kiosks deployed. Reach the team at [info@donatefy.org](mailto:info@donatefy.org).

### Donation kiosks: FS-22 and WM-22

Formats, cost, ownership, connectivity, and what a donor does at the screen.

Details: [donation kiosks](https://www.donatefy.org/hardware). [Back to all topics](https://www.donatefy.org/faqs#topics)

**What is a donation kiosk?**

A donation kiosk is a fixed, self-service giving station: a screen, a card reader, and software that turns a tap into a receipted, recorded gift. Donatefy makes two formats with the same donor experience and an integrated card and contactless reader: the [FS-22 floor-standing kiosk](https://www.donatefy.org/kiosk-floor-standing) and the [WM-22 wall-mounted kiosk](https://www.donatefy.org/kiosk-wall-mounted).

**How does giving at a Donatefy kiosk work?**

The donor picks a campaign or a Quick Donation amount, chooses a one-time or recurring gift, can opt to cover the fees, and pays with a credit card, debit card, or digital wallet on the built-in reader. The receipt is delivered automatically, and the gift lands in your ledger tagged with the kiosk. [Watch the giving flow](https://www.donatefy.org/kiosk-floor-standing#giving-flow).

**How much does a donation kiosk cost?**

The FS-22 floor-standing kiosk is $1,000 one-time and the WM-22 wall-mounted kiosk is $700 one-time, and your organization owns the hardware. Every device we sell carries Donatefy's one-year warranty, and devices activate on Starter and above. See [hardware pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing#hardware).

**Do we rent the kiosk or own it?**

You own your hardware. Combined with donations settling into your own Stripe account, that means no vendor's fate can strand your giving program. Hardware prices are published on the [pricing page](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing#hardware), with a 45-day money-back pilot and Donatefy's one-year warranty.

**Floor-standing or wall-mounted?**

Same giving experience, different placement. Choose [floor-standing](https://www.donatefy.org/kiosk-floor-standing) for prominence and flexible positioning. Choose [wall-mounted](https://www.donatefy.org/kiosk-wall-mounted) for a clean, permanent point that uses no floor space.

**Can we customize what the kiosk shows?**

Yes. Each kiosk shows the campaigns you assign in the Admin Portal, with your own titles, descriptions, imagery, and Quick Donation amounts, and you can change them from a desk without touching the device. Campaigns can use fixed amounts, donor-chosen amounts, or unit-based giving such as meals, trees, or supplies. See [campaign management](https://www.donatefy.org/campaign-management).

**Does a donation kiosk need internet?**

Yes. The FS-22 and WM-22 connect over your building's Wi-Fi to process gifts in real time and report to the Admin Portal, where each device shows as online or offline with its last activity. If a kiosk goes quiet, you see it, and the Donatefy team provides remote setup assistance and troubleshooting. See [in-person fundraising](https://www.donatefy.org/in-person-fundraising).

**Can donors start a monthly gift at the kiosk?**

Yes. Recurring signup works with a card tap at the kiosk, which turns walk-up generosity into predictable support. Donors manage their plans later in the [Donor Portal](https://www.donatefy.org/donor-management).

**What should we look for in a donation kiosk?**

Own the hardware instead of renting it, insist on an integrated card and contactless reader that takes credit cards, debit cards, and digital wallets, and follow the money: donations should settle into your organization's own account. Then check that campaigns change from an admin portal, donors can start recurring gifts at the device, device status is visible without walking over, and every gift lands in the same ledger with a branded receipt. The [donation kiosk buyer's guide](https://www.donatefy.org/guide-kiosk-buyers-guide) has the full checklist. For a church, see [church giving kiosks](https://www.donatefy.org/solutions-faith-based). For a mosque, see [mosque donation kiosks](https://www.donatefy.org/solutions-mosques).

### Handhelds and the Mobile App

Giving at events, tables, and drives, on the Stripe Reader S700/S710 or the phones your team already carries.

Details: [the Stripe Reader S700/S710](https://www.donatefy.org/handheld-s700) and [the Mobile App](https://www.donatefy.org/mobile-app). [Back to all topics](https://www.donatefy.org/faqs#topics)

**What is the Stripe Reader S700/S710?**

The Stripe Reader S700 and Stripe Reader S710 are smart readers made by Stripe and provisioned by Donatefy with the Donatefy giving app, for banquets, fundraising tables, conferences, and volunteer outreach. A volunteer opens the giving app on the reader, picks the campaign, and hands the reader to the donor, who confirms the amount and taps a card or phone. Stripe processes every payment. See [handheld giving](https://www.donatefy.org/handheld-s700).

**How much does a Stripe Reader S700 or S710 cost?**

$349, provisioned by Donatefy: the reader arrives with the Donatefy giving app and your campaigns loaded, and it carries Donatefy's one-year warranty. Already bought the reader from Stripe? Activation on Donatefy is $49. See [hardware pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing#hardware).

**What is the difference between the S700 and S710?**

The S710 adds 4G LTE cellular, and that is the only hardware difference. Both have the same screen, battery, and tap, chip, and swipe reader, and both run the Donatefy giving app with the same campaigns, one-time and recurring giving, and receipts. On the S710, cellular is off by default; once it is on, the reader uses Wi-Fi first and switches to cellular when Wi-Fi drops. See [handheld giving](https://www.donatefy.org/handheld-s700).

**Can a handheld take donations away from Wi-Fi?**

Yes, with the Stripe Reader S710. Its 4G LTE cellular is off by default. Stripe bills it, separately from Donatefy, at $10 per reader for each month it is on. The reader stays on Wi-Fi when it can and switches to cellular when Wi-Fi drops, so it keeps taking gifts. See [hardware pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing#hardware).

**What are Tap to Pay on iPhone and Tap to Pay on Android?**

Tap to Pay on iPhone and Tap to Pay on Android let a compatible phone accept contactless cards and digital wallets with no separate reader. The Donatefy Mobile App uses them for in-person gifts, so a volunteer's phone can take a donation and send an automatic receipt. See [the Mobile App](https://www.donatefy.org/mobile-app).

**What is the Donatefy Mobile App?**

The Donatefy Mobile App accepts contactless gifts on compatible phones with Tap to Pay on iPhone and Tap to Pay on Android. No readers, no cables. Your team signs into the app, selects a campaign or Quick Donation amount, and the donor taps their card or phone. See [the Mobile App](https://www.donatefy.org/mobile-app).

**Which phones work with the Mobile App?**

Compatible iPhone and Android devices with contactless capability. We will confirm your team's devices during setup. Starter includes the Mobile App on 2 phones, Growth and Enterprise include unlimited phones, and phones never count against your device allowance. Download Donatefy from the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/donatefy/id6812474834) or [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.donatefy.taptopay). See [the Mobile App](https://www.donatefy.org/mobile-app).

**How is the handheld different from the Mobile App?**

The Stripe Reader S700 and S710 are dedicated card readers made by Stripe, built for high-volume nights and shared use across volunteers. The [Mobile App](https://www.donatefy.org/mobile-app) takes contactless gifts with Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android, on phones your team already carries. Many organizations use both.

**What hardware do we need to start?**

None. You can launch with online giving alone, add the Mobile App to phones your team already carries, and bring in kiosks or handheld readers when you are ready. Compare [donation kiosks](https://www.donatefy.org/hardware) and handheld readers side by side.

**How many devices can we run at one event?**

As many as your plan covers, with extra device slots available on the [pricing page](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing). Each device reports separately: every gift is tagged with its device and campaign in the Admin Portal ledger, and on Growth and Enterprise the fleet dashboard shows totals per device.

### Online giving: E-Fundraiser, giving site, and embeds

Your branded giving hub, campaign pages, QR codes, and donate buttons on the website you already have.

Details: [online fundraising](https://www.donatefy.org/online-fundraising). [Back to all topics](https://www.donatefy.org/faqs#topics)

**What is the E-Fundraiser?**

The E-Fundraiser is your organization's giving hub: your branding, every active campaign as a card with goal progress, and a Quick Donation bar for supporters who already know their amount. Donors browse, pick, and check out without leaving your page. See [online fundraising](https://www.donatefy.org/online-fundraising).

**Can we keep our existing website?**

Yes. Use embedded components and donate buttons on your current site, or link out to your E-Fundraiser and standalone campaign pages. Most organizations run both. See [embedded giving](https://www.donatefy.org/online-fundraising).

**Which online giving tools are included?**

Every plan includes the branded giving site, standalone campaign pages, QR codes, and embeds, with recurring giving built in. Donation forms are included on Growth and above. See [plan details](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing).

**Is online giving built for phones?**

Yes. The E-Fundraiser is built mobile-first, because most donors arrive on a phone. Apple Pay and Google Pay sit up front at checkout, cards and Link cover everyone else, and donors can opt to cover fees. See [online fundraising](https://www.donatefy.org/online-fundraising).

**Do QR codes need special hardware?**

No. A QR code is just a printed door to your campaign page. Donors use their own phones; gifts land in the same ledger as everything else. See [QR-code fundraising](https://www.donatefy.org/online-fundraising).

**How fast can we launch a new appeal?**

Minutes. Create the campaign once in the [Campaign Builder](https://www.donatefy.org/campaign-management), and it is immediately available to your giving site, standalone page, QR code, and any kiosk or device you assign it to.

**Can donors give monthly online?**

Yes. Donors choose monthly or flexible frequencies and give until they decide to stop. They manage plans themselves in the Donor Portal; you see every active plan, upcoming charge, and change in the Admin Portal. Read [building a sustainer program that survives year two](https://www.donatefy.org/guide-sustainer-program).

### Donor management and the Donor Portal

One record per donor across every channel, and a self-service portal for receipts and recurring plans.

Details: [donors and the Donor Portal](https://www.donatefy.org/donor-management). [Back to all topics](https://www.donatefy.org/faqs#topics)

**What is Donatefy's donor management system?**

One connected record per donor. Each donor record brings together contact information, total donated, donation count, average gift, last gift, supported campaigns, active recurring plans, and full giving history across every channel. See [donor management](https://www.donatefy.org/donor-management).

**Is donor management included in every plan?**

Yes. Donor management, recurring giving, the Donor Portal, and branded receipts are in every plan and never paywalled, and donor records are never metered or priced per contact. See [pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing).

**Do kiosk and in-person gifts attach to donor records?**

Yes. Gifts from every channel join the same donor record, so in-person generosity stops being invisible in your donor data. See [donor management](https://www.donatefy.org/donor-management).

**What is the Donor Portal?**

In the Donor Portal, supporters see their complete giving history with interactive charts, download receipts and year-end summaries, review and manage their recurring plans, and give again. Donors who support multiple Donatefy organizations see it all in one place. See [the Donor Portal](https://www.donatefy.org/donor-management).

**Can donors cancel their own recurring plans?**

Yes, in the Donor Portal. That self-service control is exactly why donors trust recurring giving enough to start it. See [the Donor Portal](https://www.donatefy.org/donor-management).

**Can we communicate with donors from Donatefy?**

Yes. Mailing-list and engagement workflows draw on connected records, so announcements, thank-yous, follow-ups, and appeals reach the right supporters. Mailchimp sync is a $5/mo add-on on any paid plan. See [admin and reporting](https://www.donatefy.org/admin-reporting).

**Is Donatefy easy for a non-technical team?**

Yes. Self-serve setup is designed to get you to a first campaign the same day, campaigns change from the Admin Portal without touching any device, and guided onboarding is optional on every self-serve plan. See [implementation options](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing).

### Receipts and reporting

Automatic tax-ready receipts, one ledger for every gift, and sync to the systems your office runs.

Details: [receipts](https://www.donatefy.org/receipts), [reporting](https://www.donatefy.org/admin-reporting), and [integrations](https://www.donatefy.org/integrations). [Back to all topics](https://www.donatefy.org/faqs#topics)

**How do receipts and year-end statements work?**

Each donation triggers an automatic branded receipt with your logo, EIN, and tax language. Donors can also access their giving history in the [Donor Portal](https://www.donatefy.org/donor-management), with annual summaries on paid plans.

**Are receipts tax-ready?**

Receipts include your EIN and configurable tax-deductibility language, so donors have what their records require without staff intervention. See [receipts](https://www.donatefy.org/receipts).

**Do kiosk and in-person donors get receipts?**

Yes. Every channel uses the same automated receipt system, and every gift also appears in the donor's history in the Donor Portal. See [receipts](https://www.donatefy.org/receipts).

**Can we see every donation in one place?**

Yes. The donations ledger records donor, campaign, amount, date, channel, device, one-time or recurring status, fee coverage, refund status, and payment details for every gift, and the dashboard shows total raised, trends, and gifts by channel and campaign, with a gross-versus-net toggle. See [admin and reporting](https://www.donatefy.org/admin-reporting).

**How do cash and check gifts get into reporting?**

Enter them from the back office. They join the ledger, donor records, and dashboards like any digital gift, which closes the gap between your reports and reality. See [admin and reporting](https://www.donatefy.org/admin-reporting).

**Can we limit what a volunteer or bookkeeper sees?**

Yes. Team access is role-based, so finance sees finances, campaign managers see campaigns, and limited-access staff see only what they need. See [teams and permissions](https://www.donatefy.org/admin-reporting).

**Which tools does Donatefy integrate with?**

QuickBooks, Blackbaud, Bloomerang, Salesforce, Mailchimp, and Kindful. Every sync carries the campaign coding you set once, and sync status is visible per donation in the ledger, so nobody re-keys a gift at month-end. See [integrations](https://www.donatefy.org/integrations).

**Which plans include integrations?**

Integrations are add-ons on Starter, Growth, and Enterprise, priced per tool: QuickBooks Online at $20/mo, Blackbaud and Bloomerang at $15/mo each, Salesforce and Kindful at $10/mo each, and Mailchimp at $5/mo. Each add-on includes per-campaign mapping and the per-donation sync log, and Salesforce is configured with you on Enterprise. See [integration add-ons](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing#integration-add-ons).

### Payments and security

Where the money goes, how donors pay, and what Donatefy does and does not hold.

Details: [trust and security](https://www.donatefy.org/security). [Back to all topics](https://www.donatefy.org/faqs#topics)

**Where does the money go when someone donates?**

Directly into your organization's own Stripe account, on your payout schedule. Donatefy never pools or holds your funds, and platform fees appear as visible line items in your own dashboard. See [trust and security](https://www.donatefy.org/security).

**Which payment methods do donors get?**

Credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay express checkout, and supported digital wallets including Link and Samsung Pay where available. In-person channels add contactless card-present payment. Online giving also takes ACH bank transfers on every plan. See [online fundraising](https://www.donatefy.org/online-fundraising).

**How are donations processed and protected?**

Every donation, online or in person, is processed by Stripe, and Stripe captures the card details. Full card numbers are never stored on Donatefy servers, and they never pass through our databases. Giving pages and the Donor Portal travel over TLS-encrypted connections, and team access is role-based. See [trust and security](https://www.donatefy.org/security).

**Can we issue a partial refund?**

Yes. Authorized users can issue full or partial refunds from the donation record, and refund activity stays visible at the transaction level. See [the donations ledger](https://www.donatefy.org/admin-reporting).

**What happens to our data if we leave?**

Your Stripe account, donor payment relationships, and recurring plans are yours. Donatefy is built so that staying is a choice, not a trap. You can export your donor and donation records and take them with you. See [trust and security](https://www.donatefy.org/security).

**Can we send you a security questionnaire?**

Yes. If your organization has a security questionnaire or a diligence process, we are glad to work through it. Bring it to a [demo](https://www.donatefy.org/demo) or email [info@donatefy.org](mailto:info@donatefy.org).

### Fees and processing

What Stripe charges per gift, how to ask Stripe for nonprofit pricing, and how donors can cover the fee.

Details: [processing fees](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing#processing-fees) and [how Donatefy works with Stripe](https://www.donatefy.org/stripe-integration). [Back to all topics](https://www.donatefy.org/faqs#topics)

**What does Stripe charge per gift?**

Stripe processes every gift and sets the rates. Stripe standard pricing for US accounts is 2.9% + 30¢ for online card gifts, 2.7% + 5¢ for in-person card gifts, and 0.8% for ACH bank transfers, capped at $5. International cards add 1.5%, and Tap to Pay on iPhone and Tap to Pay on Android add 10¢ per authorization. These are the rates Stripe published in October 2026, and [stripe.com/pricing](https://stripe.com/pricing) always has the current list. See [processing fees](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing#processing-fees).

**How do we get nonprofit pricing from Stripe?**

Ask Stripe. Eligible registered nonprofits can request discounted processing, and Stripe requires that at least 80% of your Stripe volume comes from tax-deductible donations. Stripe states that it offers discounted processing fees for eligible nonprofit organizations that primarily accept donations, and it does not publish the discounted rate. Sign in to your own Stripe account and contact Stripe support with the subject "Non Profit pricing". Stripe decides eligibility and sets your rate. See [how to apply, from Stripe](https://support.stripe.com/questions/fee-discount-for-nonprofit-organizations), and standard rates at [stripe.com/pricing](https://stripe.com/pricing).

**Can donors cover the fees?**

Yes, when you turn fee coverage on. At checkout, donors can add the processing and platform fees to their gift in one step, with the exact amount shown before they pay, so your organization keeps 100% of the gift. It is always optional and never a surcharge. On Donatefy, 72% of donors choose to cover the fees (Donatefy platform data; results vary by organization). See [donor fee coverage](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing#fee-coverage).

**How is the Donatefy platform fee different from processing?**

Processing is what Stripe charges to move each payment: Stripe sets it, and it comes out in your Stripe account. The platform fee is what Donatefy charges for the software: one flat rate per plan, from 1.0% on Free down to 0.25% on Enterprise, the same on every channel. Both show as separate line items, so you can audit each one. See [plans](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing#plans) and [how Donatefy works with Stripe](https://www.donatefy.org/stripe-integration).

### Pricing and getting started

Published plans, one flat platform fee, and how to go from a first call to a first campaign.

Details: [pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing). [Back to all topics](https://www.donatefy.org/faqs#topics)

**How much does Donatefy cost?**

Four plans: Free at $0/mo, Starter at $49/mo, Growth at $149/mo, and Enterprise with custom pricing. Setup is $0 on every self-serve plan, and self-serve plans run month to month. Hardware is a one-time purchase: the FS-22 is $1,000, the WM-22 is $700, and a Stripe Reader S700 or S710 provisioned by Donatefy is $349. See [pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing).

**Is there a percentage taken from each donation?**

Each plan carries one flat platform fee: 1.0% on Free, 0.8% on Starter, 0.5% on Growth, and 0.25 to 0.5% negotiated on Enterprise. It is the same rate on every channel and donation type, with no fixed cents and no minimums, and higher tiers simply keep more. Payment processing by Stripe appears separately in your own account at the rates Stripe publishes, and donors can opt to cover fees at checkout. See [pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing).

**What counts as a device?**

Kiosks and Stripe Reader S700/S710 handhelds share one allowance: none on Free, 1 on Starter, up to 5 on Growth, unlimited on Enterprise. Extra slots are $15/mo each. Phones running the Mobile App never count against the device allowance. See [hardware pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing#hardware).

**Can a small organization afford this?**

Free is a complete online giving product, not a teaser: real campaigns, recurring giving, receipts, and your own Stripe account. When you hit a limit, a 30-day Growth trial with no card required lets you test everything before paying, once per organization. See [the Free plan](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing).

**What happens if we downgrade or cancel?**

Nothing is deleted. Extra seats deactivate with their history intact, devices show a paused screen and reactivate instantly, and donor records, receipts, and the Donor Portal are untouched. Re-upgrading restores everything immediately. See [pricing](https://www.donatefy.org/pricing).

**Can we run Donatefy alongside our current tools first?**

Yes. Many organizations start with one channel, a kiosk or a campaign, and migrate the rest when the ledger proves itself. See [why organizations switch](https://www.donatefy.org/compare).

**What support do you provide?**

Support grows with your plan: community support on Free, email support within 48 hours on Starter, priority support with guided onboarding on Growth, and a dedicated success manager with quarterly reviews on Enterprise. For devices, the Donatefy team provides remote setup assistance and troubleshooting. You can always email [info@donatefy.org](mailto:info@donatefy.org).

**How do we get started?**

Book a 30-minute demo and we will build a campaign live with your use case, follow a gift from checkout to ledger to receipt, and size a plan and any hardware for your spaces. Prefer email? Write to [sales@donatefy.org](mailto:sales@donatefy.org). [Book a demo](https://www.donatefy.org/demo).
